The Stout Group, LLC is a local, family-owned civil and heavy highway construction business founded in 2012. Serving South Florida as both a prime contractor and subcontractor, TSG partners with project owners to bring extensive experience, practical solutions, and lasting value to the infrastructure it builds. Built from the ground up, The Stout Group is flourishing today and contributes to the local construction economy through its work, its employees, and its commitment to the communities it serves.

Joey Sanchez, PE
Founder & Owner
Joey Sanchez was born to hardworking Cuban immigrant parents who instilled in him the values of hard work, honesty, and perseverance. Those principles have shaped his career and remain at the heart of The Stout Group.
Raised in the family’s civil contracting business, Horizon Contractors, Inc., Joey learned the industry from the ground up. He worked as a laborer, pipe layer, equipment operator, foreman, and superintendent before advancing into estimating and project management and ultimately serving as vice president of Horizon. That progression gave him a firsthand understanding of construction at every level, from field operations to company leadership.
Joey graduated from Monsignor Edward Pace High School in 1997 and earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Florida International University in 2002. He became a licensed Professional Engineer in 2006, combining practical construction experience with the technical knowledge to address complex project challenges.
In 2012, Joey founded The Stout Group with no startup capital, building the company from the ground up through determination, hard work, and a commitment to honest business practices.
Today, he leads a flourishing local, family-owned business that takes pride in partnering with project owners. His broad field, engineering, and management experience helps TSG bring substantial experience and value to every project it undertakes.
